I am a member of many wedding groups across Facebook and believe me, I cannot count how many times I saw a post that says:
“We decided not to have a photographer, we are going to ask our guests to take photos during our wedding day.”
In the first moment, this can sound like a good plan. You do not have strangers walking around you and your guests for the whole day and you are saving money, which can be spent somewhere else, but … YOU ONLY HAVE ONE CHANCE!!!
This day will never repeat itself and you only have one chance to capture the most important moments of your wedding, so make sure you trust and have confidence in the person who is taking your photos.

Your neighbour, cousin, or uncle who has got an expensive camera offered to take the photos for you. He picked the camera up a few times last year, once during the holiday, and two more times when walking around the park. Your niece received a new iPhone for Christmas and she constantly taking selfies, she can take your wedding photos as well. But what a disappointment after they show you your photos … many were blurred, too bright or too dark you could not recognise who was on them, your guests, even you and your husband lost your head a few times, there wear maybe a five, ok six you could show at work, post on Instagram, and none with a quality to print, such a shame!
An expensive camera is not everything, you need someone who knows how to use it, someone with experience in taking photos in a different light and different conditions. It is a photographer who knows how to make adjustments that everything would look like in real life, not the camera itself. Photographer has developed their skill and knowledge through years of experience and many hours of shooting. With this you get consistency, not one or two good photos, but a whole album’s worth of stunning ones.

Once your wedding day is over, the photos are taken, and you can pick up your bags and enjoy the honeymoon time. The photographer’s job is not done. There are many hours of editing in front of the professional, to make sure when you return home and you get to see your wedding photos, you will know it was worth the money you spend.
You must remember that at the end of the day, you will re-sell your dress, or put it back in the box and hide it in the attic with the hope that your future daughter would like to wear it at her wedding and there will be no slice cake left. Apart from memories, all you will end up with are going to be photos of your big day.

During our family and friends’ gatherings, we love to pick up albums and go through our photos. We laugh, and many times we cannot believe how we could wear the clothes we wore, or dance the way we did, many times we can remember the feelings we had when exact photos were taken. Every time we discover some new details or remind ourselves about the details which we did not pay attention to back then or we forgot like the colour of the t-shirt we were wearing, or how long our hair was.
Make sure these positive memories will stay with you forever in the future and reminds you how important photography is and how good you spent a bit more and hired a professional to be able to cherish them.
